First-Ever Bill Defunding Planned Parenthood Goes to Obama’s Desk Press Release: January 8, 2016 By Operation Rescue
UPDATE: January 8, 2016, 12:00 pm Central – It is now being reported that Pres. Obama did in fact veto the legislation that would have defunded Planned Parenthood and repealed parts of Obamacare. Passage shows that there is now a path to defunding with a Republican in the White House
By Cheryl Sullenger Washington, DC –
A first-ever bill defunding Planned Parenthood was successfully passed by both the House and the Senate this week and enrolled in a ceremony by Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday. That bill has now been sent to Pres. Barack Obama, who has vowed to veto it.
While Obama’s veto will ensure that no Federal funding will actually be stripped from Planned Parenthood, the vote was significant because for the first time the Republican-controlled Congress has proven that there is a path to passage that bypasses the 60-vote threshold in the Senate that has served as a roadblock to pro-life legislation in the past. Should pro-life Republican be elected as President in November, the same process can be used in 2017 to finally strip over $500 million of Federal funding from Planned Parenthood. Operation Rescue president Troy Newman wants the public to remember why Planned Parenthood doesn’t deserve one red cent of our tax money.
“Not only is Planned Parenthood the largest purveyor of abortion in the U.S., taking the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent children each year, but prima facie evidence now exists that Planned Parenthood is a corrupt criminal enterprise that should be prosecuted under the law,” said Newman. Undercover summary videos released by the Center for Medical Progress over the summer months shows planned Parenthood abortionist’s cavalierly describing grisly partial birth abortion methods used as a means of procuring the most intact fetal organ specimens for sale. The videos also showed Planned Parenthood officials haggling with CMP actors in an attempt to get top dollar for each organ harvested from Planned Parenthood abortion facilities.
One Planned Parenthood abortionist, Mary Gatter, even joked that she wanted to make enough money off the sale of baby parts so she could but a Lamborghini, leaving no doubt that Planned Parenthood has illegally profited from the sale of aborted baby remains. “The body parts scandal is only the tip of the iceberg in Planned Parenthood’s long history scandalous behavior,” said Newman. “This makes it completely unacceptable to continue funding it.”
Other examples of misbehavior by Planned Parenthood include ongoing cases involving billing fraud in Iowa, California, and elsewhere along with accusations of failing to report suspected child sex abuse. In Kansas, the Planned Parenthood organization was charged with 107 criminal countsrelated to illegal late-term abortion and manufacturing evidence to cover up their crimes.
That case was dismissed only because a corrupt official in the pro-abortion Attorney General’s office shredded the evidence against Planned Parenthood. In Massachusetts, Planned Parenthood abortionist Roger Ian Hardy was forced to surrender his Massachusetts medical license in January 2014, after 18 witnesses came forward in 2004 to testify against him about his inappropriate sexual behavior not only with his patients, but also female members of his staff. This salacious scandal covered in technicolor-detail in a three-part expose published by the Boston Globe. Planned Parenthood has also been involved in many instances of medical emergencies and malpractice cases involving horrifically botched abortions. For example, in 2014, Planned Parenthood of Illinois paid out $1.5 million to settle a wrongful death suit brought by the family of Tonya Reaves after Planned Parenthood’s abortionist Mandy Gittler tore a hole in Reaves’ uterus during a second trimester abortion, then failed to call an ambulance for 5 ½ hours as Reaves laid hemorrhaging internally from her fatal wounds. Shockingly, Gittler continues to be employed by Planned Parenthood. “We could go on and on about documented evidence we have in our possession related to Planned Parenthood’s dangerous and sometimes criminal conduct,” said Newman. “If any organization has earned being kicked off the public dole, it is Planned Parenthood, but it has been the result of public pressure that has motivated Congress to act.
While it is disappointing that Congress could not stop Planned Parenthood funding this year, I look forward to the election of a Republican President in November so tax-funding of Planned Parenthood’s corrupt enterprise can finally end. Congress’ actions in passing the defunding legislation shows that cutting off public funds is not just wishful thinking. There is a way to get this done.” Newman has endorsed the candidacy of pro-life champion Senator Ted Cruz for President. Press Release from Operation Rescue

#PopeFrancis "God is love.” #Homily at #VaticanCity
(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis said on Friday that the embrace of God’s love has the power to silence all our sins, no matter how many. He stressed that not all love comes from God but He is the true love. The Pope’s words came during his homily at the morning Mass celebrated in the Santa Marta residence.
Taking his cue from the gospel reading from the letter of John the Apostle, Pope Francis’s homily was a reflection on the different meanings of the word 'love' and the two most important commandments for a Christian: to love God and to love our neighbour.
“This word ‘love’ is a word that is used so many times and when we use it we don’t know exactly what it means. What is love? Sometimes we can think of the love in the soap operas but that doesn’t appear to be love. Or else love can seem like having a crush on a person but then it fades away. Where does true love come from? Whoever loves has been created by God because God is love. Don’t say: ‘Every love is God,’ No, God is love.”
The Pope said the Apostle John underlines how God loves us first and there are many examples of this in the gospel such as during the multiplication of the loaves of bread by Jesus or in the parable of the prodigal son.
“When we have something on our mind and we want to ask God to forgive us, it’s He who is waiting for us – to forgive us. This Jubilee Year of Mercy, to some extent, is also this: that we may know that our Lord is waiting for us, each one of us. Why? To embrace us. Nothing more. To say to us: son, daughter, I love you. I let my Son be crucified for you: this is the price of my love, this is the gift of my love.”
Pope Francis went on to stress how “the Lord is waiting for me, the Lord wants me to open the door of my heart” and we must have this certainty that He will wait for us just as we are and not as we are told to be.
“We must go to the Lord and say: ‘You know Lord how much I love you.’ Or, if you don’t feel able to say it in that way: ‘You know Lord that I would like to love you but I am such a bad sinner.’ And He will do the same as he did with the prodigal son who squandered all his money on vices: he won’t let you finish your speech and with an embrace will silence you. The embrace of God’s love.”

Beit Jimal Salesian monastery cemetery desecrated
Vandals broke into the cemetery and burned several wooden crosses, then threw them on the ground. The incident dates back to mid-December, but has only emerged in recent days. Police launch investigation, so far without result. Episode part of "price tag" attacks.
Jerusalem (AsiaNews) - Another act of vandalism against a Christian building in Israel. This time the extremist groups targeted the Beit Jimal cemetery of the Salesian monastery in Beit Shemesh, a town of about 94 thousand inhabitants situated 30 kilometers west of Jerusalem. Local sources said that the attack dates back to mid-December, but came to light only in recent days in response to a complaint filed with the police.
According to witnesses, unknown assailants entered the grounds of the cemetery, located about 500 meters away from the monastery. The vandals burned several wooden crosses present on the graves, then threw them on the ground.
The police in Beit Shemesh was informed of the facts on December 30 last year and launched an investigation.
The monastery of Beit Jimal, is a Catholic place of worship led by the Salesians and in the past has been the target of previous of attacks. The first dates back to September 27, 1981, when vandals burned at least thirty wooden crosses; the last took place in 2013, part of the "price tag" attacks, when the central part of the monastery was hit by incendiary bombs and the walls of the building defaced by writing "death to the Gentiles" and "revenge".
In the recent past Jewish extremists and settlers have targeted several religious sites. In recent years others places of worship have been attacked, including the church near the Upper Room, the Basilica of Nazareth, as well as other Catholic and Greek-Orthodox places of worship.
Muslim mosques and places of worship have also been targeted in what Israeli extremists call a "price tag" on Christians and Muslims for having "taken away their land."
Once such actions were limited only to areas on the border with the West Bank and in Jerusalem, but now have spread too much of Israel. Shared from AsiaNewsIT

Reading 11 JN 5:14-21
Beloved:
We have this confidence in him
that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask,
we know that what we have asked him for is ours.
If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly,
he should pray to God and he will give him life.
This is only for those whose sin is not deadly.
There is such a thing as deadly sin,
about which I do not say that you should pray.
All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.
We know that anyone begotten by God does not sin;
but the one begotten by God he protects,
and the Evil One cannot touch him.
We know that we belong to God,
and the whole world is under the power of the Evil One.
We also know that the Son of God has come
and has given us discernment to know the one who is true.
And we are in the one who is true,
in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life.
Children, be on your guard against idols.

GospelJN 3:22-30
Jesus and his disciples went into the region of Judea,
where he spent some time with them baptizing.
John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim,
because there was an abundance of water there,
and people came to be baptized,
for John had not yet been imprisoned.
Now a dispute arose between the disciples of John and a Jew
about ceremonial washings.
So they came to John and said to him,
“Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan,
to whom you testified,
here he is baptizing and everyone is coming to him.”
John answered and said,
“No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven.
You yourselves can testify that I said that I am not the Christ,
but that I was sent before him.
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom;
the best man, who stands and listens for him,
rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice.
So this joy of mine has been made complete.
He must increase; I must decrease.”

Saint January 9 : St. Adrian of Canterbury : #Abbot
An African by birth, Adrian became a monk and an abbot in Italy, and finally supervised a flourishing school in Canterbury.
An African by birth, then a monk and an abbot in Italy, and finally chosen to accompany the Greek monk Theodore of Tarsus to become archbishop of Canterbury, Adrian supervised a flourishing school in that cathedral town. Patrick Duffy tells his story.
An unusual appointmentAdrian was born in Africa and became a monk and eventually abbot of Nerida, not far from Naples. In the early years of the See of Canterbury after St Augustine, the archbishops were chosen from the companions who had come with him from Rome. Two Englishmen then succeeded, but as both fell victim to the plague in 664 and 665, the pope of the time, Vitalian (657-672) wanted to appoint Adrian. He refused but suggested the nomination of a Greek monk Theodore of Tarsus. Vitalian accepted this suggestion, provided Adrian accompany Theodore as his adviser and helper. Which he did.
A golden age for the Church in England
On arrival in Canterbury Theodore appointed Adrian abbot of the monastery of Saints Peter and Paul (later St Augustine’s). An excellent administrator as well as a Greek and Latin scholar, Adrian insured that the monastery grew into a centre of theological learning drawing students from all over England and even Ireland. Adrian helped his archbishop in the pastoral governance of the English Church. Bede says of this time: “Never had there been such happy times as these since the English settled in Britain.”

Death and influenceAdrian worked at Canterbury for nearly forty years, far outliving Theodore. He was buried in the church of the monastery. His body was still incorrupt when renovations made the translation of Canterbury saints necessary. Many of the miracles for which his tomb became famous were in favour of boys who studied in the monastery and were in trouble with their masters.
